Agfa HealthCare Signs Multi-Million Dollar PACS Project with Thomas Memorial Hospital
Agfa HealthCare announced today that it has signed a multi-million dollar deal with Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, West Virginia (USA), a 260-bed facility that provides a complete Radiology Information System / Picture Archiving and Communication System / Reporting and Computed Radiology (RIS/PACS/Reporting and CR) solution. The installation includes Agfa HealthCare’s IMPAX™ 6.0 PACS and the newest version of Agfa HealthCare’s reporting solution, TalkStation™ 3.1. It also includes six DX-S CR systems, which feature Agfa HealthCare’s unique DirectriX™ needle-based detector technology and Scanhead™ line-to-line CR stimulation and light collection technology, for improved image quality and workflow.

Recent study points to cost savings of up to 30 percent with ORBIS hospital information system
At The World of Health IT (WoHIT) Conference, Agfa HealthCare announces the findings of a recent study that the company commissioned from Accenture on the economic efficiency of ORBIS™, Agfa’s comprehensive hospital-wide clinical information system. The study is a systematic comparison of process cost in the before-and-after analysis, which takes account of the actual investment and operating cost in a number of different sized German hospitals. The results provide a clear indication that IT can play a key role in the improvement of efficiency in the hospital sector. With its process support, ORBIS also facilitates the administrative tasks of both medical and nursing staff.

VirtuRad signs agreement with Agfa HealthCare
Agfa HealthCare announced today that VirtuRad, a leading systems integrator and value added reseller of digital radiography equipment and services in the orthopaedic market in the U.S., has signed an agreement with Agfa HealthCare to sell Agfa’s orthopaedic line of Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), expanding the relationship beyond the current sale and support of Agfa’s Computed Radiography (CR) systems.

Agfa HealthCare’s TalkStation™ Voice Recognition and Dictation System to be installed in more than 45 U.S. Veterans Hospitals
Agfa HealthCare announced today that TalkStation, Agfa’s advanced radiology reporting system, will be installed at more than 45 hospitals run by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This will be the largest TalkStation installation in the United States and it will include the most recent version, TalkStation 3.1, which has been validated to work with the VistA information system that is in use at every VA hospital.
